Remember when your body
made you clean and dress itself
and listen to the birds
singing in the old linden tree?
You didn’t want to hear birds.
Your body made you
listen. Your body made you tired.
It made you dream. It woke you up.
Your body needed you to keep it
company until it wanted to be alone
and when it asked you
to go away you went.
