When the woman sitting next to me points
out the beautiful sunset
(and indeed it is beautiful with the sky alight
over the steely-blue sea)
I want to correct her by saying it’s actually
a beautiful earth turn because
the sun doesn’t move we do and although
our home is doing all the work
we behave as if we’re renting it and have
all the time in the world
to start the repairs but instead I cut a piece
of the grilled fish
on my plate then dip it in tartar sauce.
