The Churn

by Bill Howell

Every now
& then someone does something
half-interesting. Can we

catch it before it’s gone?
The worst stuff
is repeated endlessly.

Enormous cunning
conspires to keep us here
instead of going anywhere

that matters. Promoting the brand
with all its frisky frills,
they mess with things we used to get

just as a matter of course.
So we forget
what we came to expect.
