Three Haikus for her Exoskeleton

by Jeanette Lynes

Folded, in a bin –
brittle old coat, discarded.
Once a year: hello.

*

She’d trade these four wings
for her old husk any day –
beloved failed trope.

*

She’d meant to mention
the season. Summer of course.
She’ll get on with it!
