Sometimes I forget all the nights I’ve carried myself to bed & tucked myself in
When all I craved was
Escape
Destruction
I forget the times I had a bath instead
Made a cup of tea
Took my vitamins
Played my favorite song & danced alone in my living room
Even more so, I forget the next morning
Pulling myself up and starting over again
I honor the care giver in me,
The one who nurtures,
Who knows without words the soothing balm to every situation
We have come so far together
I trust her
& I choose her
Over and over again.
